Best Paper Award

Vasileios Davvetas, Prof. Dr. Christina Sichtmann and Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos received the Best Paper Award at the 24th Annual Conference Consortium for International Marketing Research (CIMaR) for the article "Can Global Brands Charge Price Premiums? Investigating the Effects of Perceived Brand Globalness on Consumers' Reservation Prices".



 


Best Joint Symposium Paper Award

Dr. Petra Riefler received the Best Joint Symposium Paper Award at the 2015 EMAC-GAMMA Joint Symposium in Leuven for the article titled "Combining Globalness and Authenticity: How Global Brands Benefit from Authentic Brand Stories".


 


Joint PhD Seminar with WU 

The Chair of International Marketing and the Institute of International Marketing Management at the WU Wien (Prof. Schlegelmilch) organized a joint research camp in Rust. The purpose of the camp was to have PhD students and Habilitanden present their research to colleagues from both institutions, receive detailed feedback and also form new collaborations.


 


EMAC Executive Committee

Dr. Petra Riefler has been elected to the EMAC Executive Committee to represent Austria for 2015-2017.


 


Top 4 in Handelsblatt Ranking 

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos was ranked 4th overall in terms of "Lifetime Achievement" in the latest Handelsblatt Ranking. The ranking is based on publications in renowned scientific journals and lists the most productive researchers in BWL in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 


 


Research Grant - Österreichische Nationalbank

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos and Mr. Vasileios Davvetas were awarded a research grant from the OeNB (EUR 98.000) for a three-year project entitled "Consumer Regret in Global versus Local Brand Purchase Decisions."

 


Back-to-Research Grant

Christina Sichtmann received a Back-to-Research Grant from the University of Vienna allowing her to further focus on her research on global and local brand perceptions and intercultural service encounters.


 


Research Grant - Österreichischer Integrationsfonds

Peter Patak received a research grant from the "Österreichische Integrationsfonds" for his master thesis "Intercultural Service Encounter: Theoretical and Managerial Perspective".

 


FWF research grant

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos (Chair of International Marketing) and Prof. Dr. Arnd Florack (Department of Psychology) have received a major research grant from the FWF (EUR 355.687) for a three-year project entitled "Explicit and Implicit Country Stereotypes of Consumers".

 


Hans B. Thorelli Award

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos won the 2013 Hans B. Thorelli Award for long-term impact of his article (co-authored with Dr. Nikolaos Kakkos) entitled "Managerial Assessments of Export Performance: Conceptual Framework and Empirical Illustration", published in Journal of International Marketing, Vol.15, No.3, 2007, pp.1-37.

 


Fulbright Fellowship

The Austrian-American Educational Commission (AAEC) awarded Dr. Petra Riefler in the 2014-2015 Fulbright Scholars Program. Dr. Petra Riefler will be a Fulbright visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina in the winter term 2014.


 


Bank Austria Preis Zur Förderung Innovativer Forschungsprojekte 2014

Dr. Petra Riefler won the "Anerkennungspreis" from the Bank-Austria-Forschungspreis, which is worth 2.500 Euro for her project.

 



The Susan P. Douglas Award


Dr. Petra Riefler and her co-author Dr. Amir Grinstein won The Susan P. Douglas Award for the Conference Best Paper on International Marketing presented at the 42nd EMAC Conference in Istanbul 2013.

 


Emerald Outstanding Author Contribution Award
Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos and Dr. Petra Riefler received the Outstanding Author Contribution Award at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2012 for the article entitled "Using Formative Measures in lnternational Marketing Models: A Cautionary Tale Using Consumer Animosity as an Example" (Advances in International Marketing, Vol. 22, 2011).



 


Top 4, 10 and Top 100 in Handelsblatt Ranking

The recently published Handelsblatt-Ranking of researchers in business in the German-speaking world ranks Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos 4th in the category "Lifetime Achievement" and 10th regarding his research output within the last 5 years. Dr. Petra Riefler is ranked among the Top-100 young researchers. The ranking is based on publications in renowned scientific journals and lists the most productive researchers in BWL (a total of 3016 researchers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland were evaluated). Joseph A. Schumpeter Fellowship - Harvard University

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos has been awarded with the 2012/2013 “Joseph A. Schumpeter Fellowship” by the Schumpeter Gesellschaft, which supports a research stay at Harvard University from September 2012 until June 2013.


 


Student Award of Excellence

Dr. Eva Oberecker, a former student at the Chair of International Marketing, was awarded with the "Award of Excellene 2011" for her outstanding dissertation. Besides a reward of € 2500,-, the award will be handed over by the federal minister of science & research o. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Töchterle.


 


Best Paper Awards: Markentag 2011

Two Best Paper Awards at the Markentag 2011: Prof. Dr. Christina Sichtmann was awarded for her research on "Extending Service Brands - Drivers of Success" and Marc Herz was awarded for his research on "Implicit Country Attitudes and Their Automatic Effect on Cognitive and Affective Dimensions of the Brand Image" at the Markentag 2011 that took place at Berlin.



 


Wirtschaftskammerpreis 2011

Prof. Dr. Christina Sichtmann was awarded the Wirtschaftskammerpreis 2011 by the Wirtschaftskammer Wien to support a research project with the title "When cultures meet - When are intercultural service encounters successful?". The project aims at structuring the problem of intercultural service encounters and analyzing the status quo of literature and managerial practice in this field. 

 


Senior Fellow 2011

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos was nominated as Senior Fellow 2011 by the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Centre for Business and Society at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and granted € 50.000,- for his research project "Consumers' price-related responses to country-of-origin, region-of-origin and brand-specific cues: cognitive and affective dimensions". The research project will be carried out in cooperation with the Lehrstuhl für Marketing Intelligence (Prof. Nicole Koschate) at the University of Erlangen Nürnberg thus further strengthening existing research links.



 


Emerald Outstanding Paper Award

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Adamantios Diamantopoulos received the Outstanding Paper Award at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2011 for the article entitled "Evaluating the effectiveness of brand positioning strategies from a consumer perspective" (European Journal of Marketing, Vol. 44, No. 11/12, 2010, pp. 1763-1786).


 


Emerald Outstanding Doctoral Research Award

Dr. Petra Riefler was awarded as a Highly Commended winner of the 2010 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards in the Marketing Research category (sponsored by the European Journal of Marketing). We congratulate!
