ABWL Marketing I

Prerequisites for the exam

For BW/IBW bachelor students:
The STEOP Phase has to be successfully completed.

For EC Principles of Business Administration students:
“PM1 Introduction to Business Administration” has to be successfully completed.


Course Objectives

The course provides an overview of main marketing concepts, techniques and applications. As an introductory course, objectives are

(a) to highlight the relevance of marketing in today’s economy for management decision-making,

(b) to introduce basic marketing concepts and models, and

(c) to generate interest to further study the subject at an advanced level.

Please note that, although being enrolled for the VO ABWL Marketing 1 you will NOT be automatically registered for the exam. To take the exam, you need to register via u:find) during the registration period.

ABWL Marketing II

Prerequisites

Successful completion of ABWL Marketing I. It is therefore NOT possible to complete ABWL Marketing I and ABWL Marketing II in the same semester.

A special note for all exchange students: 
The same applies to you – there is NO POSSIBILITY to complete both courses in one semester. You are eligible for this course if you have already taken a basic marketing course at your home university. To be able to attend the course you must hand in a relevant transcript/certificate by March 7th 2021.

 

Course Objectives

The course seeks to apply key marketing concepts acquired in the ABWL Marketing I course to real-life examples as well as to provide new theoretical and practical knowledge on additional marketing topics such as international marketing, services management, business-to-business markets, and digital marketing.

Einführung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten

Prerequisites for the exam

For BW/IBW bachelor students:

Course Objectives

Ziel des Moduls ist es Studierende zu befähigen, betriebswirtschaftliche Problemstellungen mittels der im Bachelorstudium erlernten Methoden und Konzepte eigenständig zu lösen.
Ziel der Lehrveranstaltung „Einführung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten“ ist, die zur Bearbeitung einer Bachelorarbeit notwendigen methodischen Skills zu vermitteln.
Spezifische Lernziele der Vorlesung sind:

  • Kennenlernen wissenschaftstheoretischer Grundlagen;
  • Befähigung zur Findung adäquater Themen und wissenschaftlicher Fragestellungen für Bachelorarbeiten;
  • Befähigung zur Recherche, Bewertung und Verarbeitung betriebswirtschaftlicher wissenschaftlicher Literatur;
  • Entwicklung von Verständnis für die methodische Vielfalt in der betriebswirtschaftlichen Forschung;
  • Kennenlernen der Grundregeln der Argumentation und des wissenschaftlichen Schreibens;
  • Anregung zur kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit der eigenen Arbeit.

Bachelor Seminar International Marketing

Prerequisites

The STEOP Phase has to be successfully completed as well as the exam "VO Einführung in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten"; successful completion of  the course ABWL Marketing II is strongly recommended.

 

Course Objectives

This seminar course involves the administration and completion of a Bachelor Thesis at the Chair of International Marketing and it aims to cultivate essential student skills related to the theoretical development, the analysis and interpretation, the presentation, and the write-up of an academic essay/project.

The course focuses on the research area of International Branding and Consumer Behavior and the Bachelor Thesis project involves both a theoretical and an empirical part; the theoretical part consists of a thorough literature review on a particular topic within the research area defined above, whereas the empirical part includes the collection and analysis of data – using a quantitative approach – in order to draw meaningful academic and managerial conclusions.

Overall, by undertaking the Bachelorseminar, students are expected to enhance their conceptual and analytical skills, in general, but also gain expert knowledge in an important field of international marketing.
